He is named in the extended 26-strong group to travel on for the final Tri-Nations test in South Africa, unlike former skipper Randell whose chances of inclusion were probably not helped by a calf muscle injury. Randell who captained the Blacks in 19 tests is replaced in the squad by Canterbury loose forward Sam Broomhall. In the only significant change from the side who beat the Springboks 41-20, Tana Umaga replaces Mark Robinson in the centre while Christian Cullen retains the number 15 jersey despite the return from injury of Leon MacDonald.
