Munster out-half Jeremy Manning kicks a penalty - the former New Zealand Schools player landed two penalties and a conversion against Cardiff and his excellent restart kicks allowed the Munster pack to put pressure on the receiver throughout.
Clontarf centre James Downey, who is being trialled by Munster, is tackled by Cardiff team captain Xavier Rush at the Arms Park. The 25-year-old has steadily progressed up through the ranks, but injury hampered his final season for Connacht in 2005/06. Downey played schools rugby for Old Belvedere, leading to stints with the Ireland Under-19s, Leinster's senior, 'A' and Under-21 teams and Connacht most recently.
Donnacha Ryan, who won an AIB League Division One winners' medal with Shannon last May, tries to cut through the challenge of Martyn Williams.
Summer signing Chris Wyatt fields a restart kick, with help from fellow debutant Darragh Hurley, who acquitted himself well at loosehead prop, and fit-again Ireland hooker Frankie Sheahan.
Playing his first competitive game since injurying his ankle against the Ospreys last May, Christian Cullen draws the attention of two Cardiff defenders.
