Munster number eight Anthony Foley, the most-capped player in Heineken Cup history, is certain to sit out Saturday's visit of Bourgoin to Thomond Park.
Foley sustained a serious shoulder injury in Munster's 21-19 victory over Leicester Tigers on Sunday, and is to see a specialist this morning to determine how much of the remainder of the season he will miss.
The Clare man, who lifted the Heineken Cup trophy as Munster captain last May, underwent a scan on the injury yesterday.
Astonishingly, he has played in 77 of Munster's 78 Heineken Cup fixtures to date since 1995. The only one of Munster's European dates that Foley, who turns 33 next Monday, has missed was way back on September 7, 1997 when Harlequins beat Munster 48-40 at the Stoop.
The Munster starting back row that day consisted of Greg Tuohy, Alan Quinlan and Eddie Halvey (at number eight).
