Irish Rugby | Ireland Sevens – HSBC SVNS Play-Offs Match Tracker

The Ireland Men’s and Women’s Sevens teams (sponsored by TritonLake) were in Los Angeles this weekend, and a win eluded both sides as they finished bottom of their respective pools in the HSBC SVNS Play-Off competition.

World Rugby’s evolved Sevens competition format, which will run from 2025/26 onwards, will see the world’s leading Sevens teams split into three divisions.

HSBC SVNS Division 1 was already out of Ireland’s reach after both teams finished 11th during the regular season, and their performances in LA saw them both miss out on Second Division status too.

That means that the Ireland Men and Women will have to qualify for next season’s SVNS Division 3 standalone Challenger event through the Rugby Europe route.

The qualification process begins with the Rugby Europe Sevens Championship Series, which take place over two legs in Makarska (June 13-15) and Hamburg (June 27-29).
