Munster Set Sights On Scarlets

Munster continue preparations for this weekend’s GUINNESS PRO12 opener away to the Scarlets, with director of rugby Rassie Erasmus meeting with the media following this morning’s pitch session at UL.

Following his Munster senior debut last Friday, winger Alex Wootton reported a hyper extension of the knee, however Rassie Erasmus was not overly concerned with the extent of the injury. Otherwise, the matchday squad came through the win over Worcester with a clean bill of health, including Tyler Bleyendaal who showed no ill-effects from his 52 minutes of rugby.

Stephen Archer was another player who did not train today. The tighthead prop is undergoing a scan for a neck complaint today with medical staff awaiting the results before a full prognosis can be made.

David Johnston, who is currently returning from an ankle issue, is expected to take part in full training next week, while Erasmus had no further update on Johnny Holland with the province still awaiting a medical report on his hamstring injury.

Peter O’Mahony (knee), Sam Arnold (knee), Mark Chisholm (concussion), Sean McCarthy (knee), Francis Saili (shoulder) and Mike Sherry (back) all continue to follow their respective rehab programmes.

Munster face the Scarlets in Llanelli at 3pm on Saturday afternoon with Erasmus to name his matchday squad at midday on Friday.

They then return to Irish Independent Park, Cork to face Cardiff Blues on Friday week (September 9) at 7.35pm. Adult tickets from €;20 and family tickets from €;40 (two adults & two juniors) can be purchased online here, from the Munster Rugby Ticket Offices at Irish Independent Park and Thomond Park, or by calling 0818 719 300.
