Sherry And Casey Wait On Scan Results
The Munster squad gathered in a wet and windy UL today after the weekend’s action that saw 45 players lining out between the British & Irish Cup and European Champions Cup matches.
Both games proved to be bruising encounters with a number of Munster players sitting out training today as a result. Those not taking part in the session included Mike Sherry, Duncan Casey, Dave O’Callaghan, Conor Murray, Stephen Fitzgerald and Tyler Bleyendaal.
Following on from Saturday night’s win over Benetton Treviso, Sherry (knee) and Casey (pec) continue to be assessed by the medical team with both hookers waiting on scan results.
In managing training workloads, Murray and O’Callaghan both sat out training today, while New Zealander Bleyendaal continues to manage a quad strain and remains unavailable.
In the Munster ‘A’ team’s narrow defeat to London Scottish, Academy winger Fitzgerald sustained a knock to his shoulder and is expected to take part in training later this week, while Academy out-half Bill Johnston (pictured below), who retired early from the game, sustained a bang to his eye but took a full part in training today.
Peter McCabe (pec), Tommy O’Donnell (hip) and Stephen Archer (neck) all continue with their rehabilitation programmes, and squad captain Peter O’Mahony (knee) will undergo surgery at the end of this week.
