O’Halloran Chosen As Connacht’s Player Of The Month

Connacht back Tiernan O’Halloran has been announced as the province’s first Player of the Month award winner for 2015/16. The award is in association with Hartmanns of Galway and Seiko Watches.

Tiernan O’Halloran, who is incredibly in his seventh season with Connacht at just 24, was selected as one of three nominees by the management team for his impressive performances on the pitch and his hard work and commitment off it.

The Clifden native was then applauded across social media where he won over 50% of the votes from the Connacht Rugby supporters.

O’Halloran, who was selected to captain his home province against the Ospreys last week, started all three games in the number 15 shirt during the month of September. He was named man-of-the-match following the opening day win over the Dragons and touched down for his 11th PRO12 try in the bonus point win over Cardiff Blues at the Sportsground.

Commenting on the westerners’ player of the month, team manager Tim Allnutt said: “Tiernan has had a fantastic start to the season. He is a leading voice for us on and off the pitch and we’re delighted to see him doing so well in his preferred position of full-back. At only 24, it’s hard to believe he’s one of our ‘old heads’, but he’s been with Connacht a long time now and is a valuable member of our team.”

Richard Hartmann, Director of Hartmann Jewellers, added: “This is our fifth year sponsoring the Player of the Month award with Connacht Rugby and we’re really enjoying the partnership. I believe Tiernan was one of the recipients of the award in the first year and we’re delighted to see him back in the store again having had a great start to the season.

“It’s a great time to be a Connacht supporter with the team sitting second in the league after some impressive performances and we’re really looking forward to the game against Edinburgh on Saturday.

“I’d like to thank Seiko Ireland for coming on board again this year and providing the array of exclusive watches that one lucky player will have a pick of each month.”

Hartmanns of Galway are the leading store in the west of Ireland stocking a huge array of the world’s top watch and jewellery brands. They have been long-time supporters of Connacht Rugby.
