Douglas’ Season Ended By Back Injury

Douglas’ Season Ended By Back Injury

Talking to the Leinster Rugby website today, the province’s head coach Matt O’Connor confirmed that lock Kane Douglas will be sidelined for the next three months with a back injury.

Kane Douglas will miss the rest of Leinster’s season and will undergo surgery, with Matt O’Connor stating: “It initially started out as a hamstring problem and we thought we could get through it and manage but we now know that Kane has got a significant disc issue in his back that will require surgery.

“He saw a specialist earlier this week and they’re booking in with our medical team a slot for surgery. I think it’s about three months. It’s a pretty standard procedure and fingers crossed he should be good as gold in that timeframe.”

O’Connor also said that a decision on the fitness of flanker Shane Jennings will not be made until later in the week, but that the rest of the squad are fit and ready for Sunday’s European Champions Cup semi-final clash with Toulon.

“We’ve had a good couple of days of preparation. The guys are very excited about the challenge, obviously. We’re fit and raring to go,” he added.

Meanwhile, Leinster Rugby have launched their Season Ticket campaign with a powerful ‘Play Your Part’ video, featuring Leinster supporters and Ian Madigan.

The video sees supporters of all ages relive the experience of scoring a try for Leinster – evading tackles and hearing the roar of the crowd at a packed RDS.

A new website, exclusively for Leinster Season Tickets, has been launched in tandem with the video at leinsterseasontickets.ie.
