Knee Injury Sidelines Adeolokun For Three Weeks

Ahead of Connacht’s GUINNESS PRO12 round 17 game away to Cardiff Blues on Friday night, the province’s medical team provided an update on injured players.

Winger Niyi Adeolokun sustained a grade 1 medial ligament sprain to his knee during last Sunday’s bonus point win over Benetton Treviso. The 24-year-old is expected to be sidelined for up to three weeks.

Number 8 Eoghan Masterson is recovering well from a bruised shoulder and is expected to be fit for selection this week. After also taking a knock to the head, he was required to undergo the standard HIA tests this week which he passed.

Tighthead prop Nathan White is struggling with an ongoing calf soreness which caused him to withdraw late from the last two games. The 33-year-old remains unavailable this week.

Full-backs Mils Muliaina and Darragh Leader have both returned to full training and are available for selection for the trip to the Welsh capital.

Meanwhile, Kieran Marmion (shoulder), Bundee Aki (ankle), Eoin McKeon (sternum) and Willie Faloon (shoulder) continue with their rehab. It is hoped that all four players will be available after the break and for the next fixture against Munster on Saturday, March 28.
