McSharry Voted Connacht Player Of The Month

Connacht centre Dave McSharry has been named the province’s Player of the Month for November, in association with Hartmanns Jewellers and Seiko Watches.

Dave McSharry was selected as one of three nominees by the Connacht management team for his hard work and commitment both on and off the pitch during the month of November.

He was then applauded across social media and won over 50% of the votes from the Connacht Rugby supporters.

Last month, McSharry started and played 80 minutes in both GUINNESS PRO12 games at the Sportsground, partnering new arrival Bundee Aki in the centre in the bonus point victory over Zebre as well as the hard-earned 14-8 win over the Scarlets.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed an impressive injury-free start to the season, playing in 11 out of the 13 games to bring his tally to 55 appearances for Connacht.

Commenting on the November Player of the Month award winner, Connacht team manager Tim Allnutt said: “Dave really fronted up for us in what was an important period of games and crucial in terms of our goals this season. In both games, he really led our line on defence and carried extremely well.

“He is nearly a senior member of our young back-line at this stage and is a true professional on and off the park. He truly deserves this award.”

Richard Hartmann, Director of Hartmann Jewellers, added: “We are delighted for Dave to win the Player of the Month award. Dave won the award three years ago when he was just 21 and we could see the potential he had as a rugby player.

“It’s fantastic that he has developed his game with Connacht and is being recognised again for his contribution to the team and their brilliant success this season. We hope he enjoys the lovely Seiko watch he picked out today.”

Hartmanns of Galway are the leading store in the west of Ireland, stocking a huge array of the world’s top watch and Jewellery brands. They have been long-time supporters of Connacht Rugby.
