Knee Injury Rules Out Van Den Heever

Knee Injury Rules Out Van Den Heever

After a bruising encounter with Clermont Auvergne at Thomond Park last Saturday, the Munster squad gathered in their respective centres today as preparations continued for the return leg of the back-to-back Champions Cup fixtures.

Gerhard van den Heever will not be available for selection this weekend after sustaining a knee injury during the round 3 loss to Clermont, while fellow knee injury victim Dave Kilcoyne will continue to be assessed by the medical staff.

Kilcoyne’s replacement James Cronin, who finished the game, is under medical review after taking a knock to his shoulder.

In addition, Munster report that Robin Copeland, Paddy Butler, Eusebio Guinazu and Andrew Smith will continue to be integrated into training this week.

It has also been confirmed that prop Alan Cotter, who sustained a torn bicep when playing for Munster ‘A’ against Nottingham in the British & Irish Cup, underwent surgery in Dublin yesterday.

Munster’s British & Irish Cup squad play their final round game this Saturday away to Moseley at 2pm, while the Munster senior panel will depart for France the same day as they take on Clermont in round 4 on Sunday at 4.15pm local time/3.15pm Irish time.
