Naoupu Voted Connacht Player Of The Month

Versatile forward George Naoupu has been named the Connacht Rugby Player of the Month for October, in association with Hartmanns Jewellers and Seiko Watches.

George Naoupu was selected as one of three nominees by the Connacht management team for his hard work and commitment both on and off the pitch during the month of October. He was then applauded across social media and won the highest number of votes from the Connacht Rugby supporters.

Last month, Naoupu started four out of five games for Connacht at number 8 and made one appearance as a replacement.

The 31-year-old New Zealander has cemented his place in the province’s pack and is one of only four forwards to have featured in all nine games this season.

Since his arrival at Connacht at the start of the 2009/10 season, Naoupu has built a reputation for his imposing physicality and remarkable ball-carrying abilities.

Commenting on the October Player of the Month, Connacht assistant coach Dan McFarland said: “Following an excellent pre-season George has been performing really well this year. His ball-carrying has notched up several levels with the addition of some size and techniques, this is a credit to his application and Player of the Month is a well-deserved recognition of his efforts.”

Richard Hartmann, Director of Hartmann Jewellers, added: “All of us at Hartmanns are delighted to be supporting the Connacht Rugby Player of the Month award again this year in association with our partners Seiko Ireland.

“Seiko watches have come on board this season to promote the fantastic new PROSPEX collection and are proud to be associated with Connacht Rugby.

“We are delighted for George to win the award on this occasion. It’s not the first time George has won the award so it goes to show how important he is to Connacht.”

Hartmanns of Galway are the leading store in the west of Ireland, stocking a huge array of the world’s top watch and jewellery brands. They have been long-time supporters of Connacht Rugby.
