Four Changes For Connacht Eagles

Four Changes For Connacht Eagles

The Connacht Eagles team, sponsored by NUI Galway, has been named for Saturday’s British & Irish Cup round 3 encounter with London Scottish at the Sportsground (kick-off 2.30pm).

Head coach Nigel Carolan has selected a side that shows four personnel changes to the team that lined out against Pontypridd last weekend.

Academy back Ciaran Gaffney is named at full-back after the Galwegians player made an impact off the bench last time out.

Former Ireland Under-20 and Academy player Conor McKeon is handed the reins at out-half, while Shane O’Leary moves to outside centre this week. Jerome Harimate, another of the Galwegians’ contingent, is named on the left wing.

There is just one change to the pack with Buccaneers clubman Stephen McVeigh coming in for Daniel Qualter who travels to Exeter with the Challenge Cup matchday squad this week.

Cian Romaine moves up to the second row with McVeigh brought in at blindside flanker. Once again, Eoghan Masterson captains the side from the base of the scrum.

Neither Connacht Eagles or London Scottish have won a game so far in Pool 1, with Scottish picking up their second losing bonus point of the campaign against Bristol to sit one point ahead of bottom-placed Connacht who were beaten at home by Pontypridd in round 2.

Kick-off at the Sportsground on Saturday is 2.30pm and entry is €;5. It is free admission for all Connacht Rugby Season Ticket holders.
