Connacht Receive Huge Welcome In Ballinrobe

The Connacht senior squad received a huge welcome when they arrived at Ballinrobe RFC on Tuesday for a high-intensity training session on the newly developed pitch at the green.

Following the hour long session, the attending children were invited onto the pitch for interactive drills and games with the Connacht players.

The special visit is part of Connacht Rugby’s commitment to bring the professional squad to all parts of the province. The senior squad has now visited Sligo RFC and Ballinrobe RFC ahead of the new 2014/15 season.

Despite the intermittent downpours, there was a lot of fun had on the pitch for both the players and the budding young rugby stars.

Following photos and autographs, Minister for Sport Michael Ring TD was on hand to officially declare the new pitch at Ballinrobe open.

The squad were then invited to attend the Family Race Day meeting at the Ballinrobe Racecourse where they were treated to a wonderful meal and enjoyed an evening of top quality racing, including a special race in our honour, the ‘Connacht Rugby Handicap Hurdle’.

A huge thank you from Connacht Rugby to all involved at Ballinrobe RFC and Ballinrobe Racecourse for a wonderful welcome and day out.

Photos of the day can be seen here and here.
