Munster Team Up With Kitman Labs

Munster Team Up With Kitman Labs

Munster Rugby have teamed up with Kitman Labs for use of their flagship Profiler system, providing sports science software to Munster coaching and medical staff, assisting them in the critical decisions necessary to help reduce injuries and improve athlete performance.

Kitman Labs have worked closely with the province to develop and understand team needs, supplying the Profiler system to the Munster senior squad for the upcoming season to help highlight performance decrements and a player’s risk of injury.

Adam Trypas, Munster Rugby’s head of fitness, said: “Monitoring is a huge part of what we do. We use Kitman Labs to alert us which players are a red flag and tell us what is going wrong with a player.

“Before the player does anything for that day we can grab him and try to resolve the problem or alter his training.”

Through the Profiler system, Munster Rugby will seamlessly share athlete data back and forth with the IRFU and the national squad, who signed their own deal with Kitman Labs earlier this year.

Dave Clark, head of fitness at the IRFU, commented: “The profile generated by Kitman Labs facilitates the collection and communication of data between the provinces and national team management, which means that the data will inform planning and acute programme modifications.

“Given the environment and the quantity of data generated, this is an invaluable tool.”

Commenting on securing the deal with Munster Rugby, Iarfhlaith Kelly, CEO of Kitman Labs, added: “This is an exciting announcement for us. Through the combination of the work we’ve been doing with the IRFU, and now with Munster Rugby, our Profiler system will help provide consistent athlete data across both provincial and national camps.

“This will provide improved analytical data and actionable insights for both parties while they train their athletes, and get them ready to perform.”

Kitman Labs was founded in 2012 and is a sports science company based in the Media Cube, on campus at the Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT). The company has extensive experience in the area of sports science and injury rehabilitation, with the sports science team having worked at the highest levels of professional rugby.

Combining this with a hugely experienced engineering team and a partnership with the School of Statistics at Trinity College Dublin, Kitman Labs have all the expertise needed to develop world class sports science software for professional sports clubs.
