Home Advantage In Final If Leinster ‘A’ Advance

If Girvan Dempsey’s Leinster ‘A’ team can win away to Pontypridd in their April 26 semi-final, they will have home advantage for the British & Irish Cup final next month.

The British & Irish Cup organising committee confirmed today that the 2013/14 final will take place at either Pontypridd RFC (Sardis Road) or Leinster ‘A’ (Donnybrook), pending results of the semi-finals.

The final venue was selected via a draw, carried out by the organising committee.

The British & Irish Cup final will take place on Friday, May 23. The kick-off time will be determined between the finalists and the organising committee.

Leinster ‘A’ are the defending British & Irish Cup champions having lifted the trophy after an extra-time triumph in Newcastle last May.

This season Girvan Dempsey’s charges topped their pool with six wins from six and out-half Cathal Marsh recently inspired them to a 47-15 quarter-final victory over Munster ‘A’ at Donnybrook.

They are away to Welsh club Pontypridd in the last-four, with that game taking place at Sardis Road on Saturday week (April 26) (kick-off 2.30pm).

The other semi-final is between English Championship sides Bristol and Leeds Carnegie at the Memorial Stadium on Sunday, May 4 (kick-off 3pm).
