Connacht Boosted By Return Of Muldoon And Browne

With a short turnaround this week, the Connacht squad are preparing for their RaboDirect PRO12 round 9 clash away to Edinburgh on Friday night (kick-off 7.45pm).

One player the Connacht management will have to plan without is Brett Wilkinson who suffered a neck strain during last Saturday’s disappointing three-point defeat to the Scarlets. The loosehead prop has been ruled out for at least one week.

Danie Poolman, who pulled up in training last week with a knee injury, is awaiting further review following a scan, and it is unlikely that he will be available for this week’s trip to Scotland.

In better news, forwards John Muldoon and Andrew Browne both returned to training at the Sportsground yesterday and will continue to be monitored ahead of the team selection.

Ireland international Robbie Henshaw returns to the provincial camp this week and is available to play against the Scottish side. It was at Murrayfield last year that the 20-year-old scored his first Connacht try in the 32-24 win over Edinburgh.

Eoin McKeon returned to club rugby over the weekend, playing 80 minutes for Division 1B side Buccaneers in their 50-7 triumph over Dungannon.

The team to face Edinburgh is set to be announced on Thursday afternoon. The Edinburgh v Connacht game is not being televised but there will be live match updates from the province’s Twitter account @ConnachtRugby.
