No Fresh Injury Concerns For Leinster

The Leinster squad trained in UCD today ahead of next Saturday’s RaboDirect PRO12 visit of Connacht to the RDS (kick-off 6.45pm).

There are no fresh injury concerns for Leinster arising from last Saturday’s Heineken Cup win over Top 14 champions Castres Olympique.

Brian O’Driscoll is progressing with his calf strain and will continue to be assessed by the medical team. The Dubliner could be in the frame this week, but he will continue to be assessed on a daily basis as will tighthead prop Mike Ross ahead of Friday’s team announcement.

Both players have resumed light training and hope to return to do some on-field work this week. The squad is likely to be freshened up following the exertions of recent weeks.

Leinster team manager Guy Easterby said: “Obviously Brian has a calf injury and you have to be careful with those. You certainly don’t want to re-do the injury. So you wouldn’t want to be pushing him back too early.

“Brian knows his body better than anyone. He is a veteran athlete in terms of his age but he has got a fantastic feel for his own body.

“He is excellent at managing himself and he certainly won’t be putting himself under any risk, but I don’t think there will be any issue at all from what I am gathering for Ireland’s November games.”

David Kearney’s next game will be his 60th for the province while front rower Ross is seven games short of the century mark.

Lote Tuqiri should come into the mix this week and he could be joined by Zane Kirchner who is set to make his debut following his arrival in Dublin a fortnight ago.

Shane Jennings has fully recovered from injury and he is also in the mix, while several members of the Leinster ‘A’ team who have won both of their opening British & Irish Cup matches against Ealing Trailfinders and Moseley could also come into contention.

Meanwhile, Andrew Goodman has made positive strides in his rehab and should come back into the fray over the next few weeks after being sidelined since the summer.

There will be specially themed Halloween events taking place around the ground on Saturday evening including a Haunted House, trick or treat giveaways, vouchers and prizes for the best adult, family and fancy dress costume.

Events will start at 5pm when gates open and the game kicks off at 6.45pm. Adult tickets are priced at €;30, children’s tickets are €;10 and a family of four can gain admission for just €;70.

Tickets sales for Saturday’s match have passed the 14,500 mark – Leinster v Connacht tickets are on sale online here and are available from Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.
