O’Mahony: We’re Raring To Go For Gloucester Game

The Munster squad gathered at the University of Limerick today for their opening session of the week. Preparations are well underway for their Heineken Cup round 2 showdown with Gloucester at Thomond Park on Saturday (kick-off 6pm).

Simon Zebo, who was not at training today, travelled to Dublin for a consultation with a specialist and will undergo a further scan on his left foot in identifying his injury.

James Coughlan was at training in Limerick and he continues to be monitored following a knock to his left forearm during last Saturday’s encounter with Edinburgh.

Munster head coach Rob Penney and captain Peter O’Mahony met with press after training and both are looking for a positive reaction to the round 1 defeat and hope the fans will be in full voice at Thomond Park come Saturday evening.

Flanker O’Mahony, who took no part in the Edinburgh match, is targeting a big performance against Gloucester, stating: “We’re putting last weekend behind us and we’ve a big week ahead of us now. We’re after a big session today and we just have to get on with it.

“We are not happy with last weekend’s performance, it hurt a lot and we are all proud men so we are just raring to go this week.

“We’ve a big game at home this weekend, back at Thomond Park, and we want everyone to get out for it. The support is always huge for us on days like this.

“We never do it the easy way and we have five cup games left, we are into ‘cup rugby’ now and we have to win this Saturday.”

Penney added: “It is critical that the supporters are out in force on Saturday night. Our fans are a special group and we would love to see everyone out as a major force this weekend.

“When the team has its back against the wall and is desperate to do well there is nothing better that the Thomond Park crowd to help them unleash themselves.”

Category B Stand tickets (€;40) and Terrace tickets (€;30) are on sale for this weekend’s game with Category A tickets sold out at this stage.

Tickets are on sale online here and are also vailable from the Munster Rugby ticket offices in Thomond Park and Musgrave Park and Ticketmaster outlets nationwide, or by calling 0818 719300.
