Connacht Nursing Knocks Ahead Of ‘Quins Rematch

While the Connacht squad trained in the Galway sunshine on Tuesday ahead of their Heineken Cup round 2 clash with Harlequins, there were some injury concerns arising from the historic away win over Zebre.

Full-back Robbie Henshaw and centre Eoin Griffin both picked up knocks against Zebre and will continue to be assessed ahead of Friday’s team announcement.

Ethienne Reynecke, David McSharry and George Naoupu are also suffering from a few knocks and bruises this week.

The fit-again Brian Murphy (centre), Eoin McKeon (back rower) and Thomas Anderson (back rower) will all be available for British & Irish Cup selection this weekend when Connacht Eagles take on Newcastle Falcons at Dubarry Park this Friday (kick-off 7.45pm).

Meanwhile, Frank Murphy, Andrew Browne, Gavin Duffy, David Nolan, Paul O’Donohoe, Danie Poolman and Kyle Tonetti remain unavailable for selection due to injury.

There are still a limited number of tickets available for Saturday’s Heineken Cup showdown with Harlequins at the Sportsground (kick-off 6pm).

While the popular Clan Terrace and the enclosed area of the Main Stand are both sold out, there are a few remaining tickets for the Main Stand and behind both goal posts.

For more information, go to www.ticketmaster.ie or call into the Connacht Branch offices in Galway.

As the westerners await the arrival of old rivals Harlequins to the Sportsground, they would love to receive your messages of support for the team.

The messages will be used to decorate the team dressing room and the tunnel and so will be seen by the squad before and as they step out onto the pitch on Saturday night.

Connacht are looking for passionate, emotional and inspiring messages to remind the team of what Connacht Rugby means to you. Post your message on the province’s facebook page or email it to: Pauline@cbirfu.com.
