Munster Confirm Stringer’s Move To Saracens

Munster have announced that an agreement has been reached which will allow scrum half Peter Stringer to take up a short-term contract with Aviva Premiership side Saracens.

Following injuries to scrum halves Neil de Kock and Richard Wigglesworth, Saracens approached Munster with the proposal of a three-month loan contract.

After discussions with Peter Stringer and consideration of the rules and regulations governing such a move. it was decided that in the best interests of the player himself, Munster should agree terms.

Stringer, who played for the Barbarians last Saturday, said of the move to the reigning English champions: “I believe I still have a lot to offer and want to continue to play at the highest level.

“In the situation I currently find myself, that is outside the Munster matchday squad, I think this temporary switch to Saracens will serve my ambition best.

“This offers me a new challenge, and I’m grateful to Munster management for their co-operation.”

It is anticipated that the arrangement, once the necessary paperwork has been completed, will begin with immediate effect

Commenting on the news, the province’s head coach Tony McGahan said: “We recognise the situation Peter finds himself in and we’re happy to accommodate this short-term arrangement. We wish him well.”
