Ryan To Captain Leinster ‘A’ Side

The Leinster ‘A’ team to face the Ulster Ravens in Friday night’s interprovincial friendly at Donnybrook (kick-off 6pm) has been announced.

The Leinster ‘A’ squad will then travel to face Esher RFC in the opening round of the British & Irish Cup on Saturday, November 12 (kick-off 3pm).

Speaking ahead of Friday’s game, Leinster ‘A’ head coach Colin McEntee said that the team are expecting a tough encounter with a strong Ulster outfit.

“Games against Ulster are always tight affairs and Friday night’s friendly will give both managements the opportunity to assess the bulk of their squads ahead of the start of the British & Irish Cup next month,” he commented.

“We are pleased to call on some senior players like Steven Sykes who is in need of game-time after his recent injury, while I know how excited Dominic (Ryan) is to lead the team for the first time.

“Because of the hiatus in the calendar over the last few weeks it was important that we arranged a competitive game for the squad and it will also provide a number of Academy and club players with an opportunity to impress.”

* There will be free entry for Leinster Season Ticket holders for Friday’s game (upon presentation of this year’s membership card).
