Connacht To Train In Sligo

Connacht Rugby will be holding open training sessions at Sligo RFC this coming Sunday and Monday as Eric Elwood prepares his squad for the upcoming season.

The overnight trip, which will include training sessions on Sunday afternoon (3pm-4pm) and Monday afternoon (2pm-3pm), is reminiscent of the successful pre-season training stint in the Aran Islands last season.

This training camp is part of Connacht’s commitment to bringing the professional team to all parts of the province and with Sligo RFC being the most northerly club in Connacht, it is the ideal choice.

In addition, the fact that Sligo have recently won promotion to the Ulster Bank League gives this trip extra significance.

The home of rugby in Sligo, Hamilton Park in Strandhill, will throw open its doors on Sunday with a family day which will include bouncy castles, face-painting and a barbecue ahead of the Connacht squad and management arriving at 3pm.

There will be autograph and photo opportunities after the session from 4pm onwards.
