McLaughlin In Contention For Leinster

The Leinster squad trained at UCD on Wednesday morning as they stepped up their preparations for Saturday’s Magners League derby match against Connacht at the RDS (kick-off 5.30pm).

Kevin McLaughlin trained with the panel as he continues his rehabilitation from the knee injury sustained last May. The Leinster management are hopeful that he will be involved in this weekend’s game against Connacht.

The Ireland international will undergo further fitness tests this week and a decision on his availability will be made ahead of Friday’s team announcement.

Eoin O’Malley (rib), Nathan Hines and Richardt Strauss, who were rested for Monday’s clash with Ulster, are in contention for selection.

Isa Nacewa’s 15-point haul in the 30-13 victory over Ulster pushed him into third place in the Magners League top points scorers’ list for this season with 105, while Shane Horgan scored his fifth try in the last six games in all competitions.

In excess of 15,600 tickets have now been sold for Saturday’s interprovincial derby against Connacht. Tickets are currently available to purchase here and from Spar (Donnybrook), the Leinster Rugby Store (Donnybrook) and Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.
