Fans Urged To Support Connacht’s European Assault

After a successful start to the season which included a record home attendance of 3,761 against Ulster, Connacht are offering fans a special deal on ticket prices for their two home games in October.

Connacht open their Amlin Challenge Cup campaign away to Italian side, I Cavalieri Estra, next weekend, and one of the province’s most experienced players, full-back Gavin Duffy, is hoping to see the fans out in force for their home fixture against Bayonne the following Friday.

According to the Ireland international, the Connacht players and management cannot overstate the impact a large enthusiastic crowd makes to the players on the Sportsground pitch.

“It gives us the lift that helps us make the extra tackle, or gives us the extra push to get across the try-line,” he said.

Bayonne will travel to Galway in confident mood, having beaten Heineken Cup teams Toulon and Clermont Avergne in recent domestic matches.

That October 15 clash with the high-flying French outfit is the first part of a special two-match ticket deal which Connacht are offering their supporters.

The second one, on Saturday, October 23, sees Leinster travelling west in search of their first Sportsground victory since 2008.

These are two very important fixtures for Eric Elwood’s men who are unbeaten in competitive games at home this season.

A large credit for this has to go to the passionate supporters, who recently created a memorable atmosphere that encouraged the westerners to end their losing streak at home to Ulster.

Fans can avail of a special offer on tickets that cover both the Bayonne and Leinster games for only €;35 for an adult, €;25 for a student, OAP or unwaged, and €;10 for a child over 12.

As usual children under-12 are free if accompanied by an adult. Tickets are available from the Connacht Rugby office at the Sportsground (tel: (0)91 561568/email: eoin@cbirfu.com), or online via www.connachtrugby.ie.
