Pienaar Included In Ulster Squad

Ulster coach Brian McLaughlin has named a 30-man squad ahead of Friday night’s Magners League match against Glasgow Warriors at Ravenhill (kick-off 7.05pm).

New signing Ruan Pienaar’s name features in an Ulster squad for the first time, having arrived in Belfast just two weeks ago.

Scotland international Simon Danielli is also included, having recovered from shoulder surgery in the summer.

With props BJ Botha, Declan Fitzpatrick and Adam Macklin all unavailable due to injury, Ulster have drafted in Instonians prop Alan Whitten, a brother of Ulster centre Ian Whitten, ahead of this weekend’s match.

Stephen Ferris, who injured his shoulder against Connacht, Bryn Cunningham and David Pollock are the other injury-enforced absentees.

Ulster’s starting line-up and replacements will be named on Thursday afternoon.

Paddy Wallace, who played at out-half in a 15-15 draw with Connacht, knows his side will need an improved display if they are to head into the Heineken Cup’s pool stages on the back of a confidence-boosting win.

“As a team we want to grow, get better at that and move on. We now have another big match against Glasgow. We need to go into Europe on a high note,” he said.

“We’re getting the heads down this week, learning from our mistakes and taking the positives from the Connacht game. Hopefully we can put in a better performance against Glasgow.”

Tickets for the Ulster v Glasgow Warriors tie are available to purchase here and gates open at 5.30pm for the 7.05pm kick-off.
