Leinster Plan Club Visits

Leinster Rugby will gear up for the new season with a series of provincial club and area visits to Mullingar, Wexford Wanderers and Clondalkin.

Following on from pre-season visits to the likes of Kilkenny, Wicklow, Edenderry, Tullamore, Boyne, Navan, Portlaoise and Malahide in recent years, the Leinster squad will visit three areas ahead of the first pre-season friendly against London Wasps which kicks off in Donnybrook on Friday, August 20th (KO: 7pm).

Each area visit will incorporate a full squad training session – which will last approximately one hour -followed by opportunities for supporters of all ages to meet the squad.

The Mullingar visit on the August Bank Holiday weekend will be a homecoming of sorts for recently installed coach Joe Schmidt who spent a year with the Westmeath outfit in the early 1990’s.

Speaking ahead of the visits Leinster Manager Guy Easterby said: We are delighted to announce details of this summer’s provincial visits and I know from experience that they are enjoyable affairs for players and supporters alike.

“All three clubs are progressive and ambitious, with each boasting excellent training facilities for the squad as we step up our preparations for the new season.

“It isn’t always possible to carry out sessions such as these during the season because of the close proximity of matches and we are all conscious of the large support base that exists across the province.”
