Nagle And Sherry Included In Munster Squad

Academy pair Ian Nagle and Mike Sherry, who both impressed in Munster’s British & Irish Cup win over Nottingham last weekend, have been included in the province’s 25-man squad for Friday’s Magners League clash with Edinburgh (Musgrave Park, kick-off 8pm).

Munster are currently completing their preparations for the resumption of the Magners League and the game on Friday against Edinburgh in the balmy sunshine and mid-20 degrees of Club La Santa in Lanzarote.

The Munster squad flew out to the renowned Spanish training facility last Wednesday, minus their Ireland internationals involved in the RBS 6 Nations game against France.

Head coach Tony McGahan said: “Being out here in these conditions allows us to get in quality training that may not always be possible at home.

“We’ve managed good intensity sessions twice a day since we’ve been here and there’s also been the social interaction so vital in a group this size that we don’t see back home given the squad is divided between Limerick and Cork.

“So all in all, I’d be more than pleased with the exercise and I think it will stand us in good stead in the coming Magners League weeks and the closing stages of the season.”

Donnacha Ryan, who was sprung from the bench in Paris to win his fifth Ireland cap, has been included in the extended panel for the Edinburgh game.

In addition, the likes of Ian Dowling, Peter Stringer, Mick O’Driscoll and Marcus Horan are among the players returning from Ireland Wolfhounds duty.
