Magners League: Round 6 Preview

Magners League: Round 6 Preview

This weekend sees a return to Magners League action following some promising results in Europe across all three Celtic Unions. Currently, Magners League teams top three of the six pools in the Heineken Cup – Leinster, Munster and the Cardiff Blues.

Magners League round 6 opens on Friday night when Edinburgh, whose 13-6 victory in Castres in the European Cup ended a three-game losing run in all competitions, travel to the Sportsground to face a Connacht team aiming for another win to equal their best ever home run.

Also on Friday night, Glasgow Warriors welcome current league champions Leinster to Firhill Arena, a ground where the hosts have suffered only one defeat in their last five home Magners League games.

However, the visitors, buoyed by their European victory over English champions London Wasps last weekend, will be looking to put to a stop to their recent losses in the league.

Finally on Saturday, table toppers Munster, undefeated in the Magners League to date and already with two victories under their belt in the defence of their European title, face their provincial rivals Ulster, who came away with a win the last time the two teams met.

The remaining Round 6 fixtures, involving the Welsh teams, will be played in December (Newport Gwent Dragons v Ospreys (December 19) and Scarlets v Cardiff Blues (December 20)).
