Around all four provinces, the 2007 IRFU/Ulster Bank Summer Scrummage camps are coming to a close. We take a look at the happenings at the recent Ulster camps which have had a few surprise visitors, much to the delight of the kids.
There is just one week of camps left to run in Ulster, with the final two camps taking place at Newry and Queen’s University from August 20-24.
So far this summer, the scheme have been a resounding hit north of the border – where there has been a record numbers of camps run – and that trend continued at the Campbell, Rainey and Lisburn camps recently.
The local kids have been thrilled to see some of the current Ulster squad calling by to join in the fun, signing autographs and passing on their expertise to the budding rugby stars. Recent weeks have seen Kieron Dawson and Bryn Cunningham dropping in on the action at Campbell, Declan Fitzpatrick and Nigel Brady calling up to Rainey and Paul Marshall visiting the Lisburn camp.
