Leinster Training Day A Big Hit

Leinster Training Day A Big Hit

The Leinster squad and supporters young and old enjoyed a fun-filled day at Edenderry RFC and Portarlington RFC on Friday at the first of what will be a number of visits for Michael Cheika’s men to regional clubs throughout the province.

The gloomy weather did not dampen the spirits as hundreds of supporters braved the unseasonal conditions to meet the squad and coaching staff. In Edenderry, the supporters were able to view a series of coaching drills split between the Leinster squad’s backs and forwards.

Later that day in Portarlington, the squad again signed official squad posters and other items before conducting a coaching drill for the various underage boys and girls teams in the progressive club.

Several hundred tickets for the opening Magners League game of the season against Edinburgh at the RDS were hungrily snapped up as the big season kick-off draws ever closer.

Leinster Rugby would like to thank both clubs for their hospitality and look forward to meeting again in the future.

A Leinster Rugby statement said: “We would also like to acknowledge the assistance of the various volunteers, Rugby Development Officers, Youth Development Officers and all the supporters who made Friday’s training sessions so enjoyable.

Kilkenny RFC is the next stop on Thursday, August 23, and then on to Boyne RFC on Thursday, September 13 with times to be confirmed at a later date.

“Both of these visits will feature a full squad training session and Rugby Development Officers from Leinster Rugby will be on hand to assist in the coaching sessions and there will be great giveaways and prizes on the day for anyone wearing Leinster gear.”
