The Energia All-Ireland League remains the pinnacle of the club game in Ireland, bringing together the country's leading clubs in a highly competitive national league structure.

Ahead of the 2026/27 season, the IRFU introduced a new divisional format as part of a wider review of the men's game, with a focus on long-term sustainability for clubs and players while maintaining strong standards of competition across the league.

As a result, the former Divisions 2B and 2C have been restructured into Energia All-Ireland League 2BN (North) and Energia All-Ireland League 2BS (South). To determine the composition of the divisions, a notional line is drawn between O'Connell Bridge in Dublin and Eyre Square in Galway. Clubs located north of this line compete in 2BN, while clubs south of the line compete in 2BS.

The regionalised structure is designed to reduce travel demands, support player welfare, and enhance the sustainability of the club game, while preserving meaningful competition and clear pathways for promotion and relegation across the Energia All-Ireland League. The IRFU will continue to monitor the balance of both divisions and make adjustments where necessary to ensure an even distribution of clubs in future seasons.
