McGrath And Kearney Ruled Out Of Emerging Ireland Squad

Luke McGrath and Michael Kearney have been ruled out of Emerging Ireland’s final game of the IRB Nations Cup against hosts Romania in Bucharest on Sunday.

Both Luke McGrath and Michael Kearney sustained concussive injuries during the 51-3 win over Uruguay. The pair have been stood down and will go through the return to play protocols.

McGrath has flown back to Ireland and will be replaced in the squad by Ulster’s Michael Heaney.  Kearney will remain with the squad for the remainder of the tournament.

The management team, headed up by coaches Dan McFarland and Neil Doak, report that apart from the usual bumps and bruises, which are being managed by the medical staff, the remainder of the squad are available for selection.

Both Romania and Emerging Ireland have recorded two victories in the Nations Cup so far, although McFarland’s charges top the table courtesy of two bonus point victories over Russian and Uruguay.
