Greystones Rugby Club are holding an annual open day on Saturday (August 24) with an open invitation to everyone to come along and enjoy a free barbecue and watch the first team in action as they take on Boyne in the Leinster League.

Greystones RFC members will be on hand to extend a welcome and share information on many different levels of rugby that can be played and the many facilities that can be enjoyed in the club.

Quite apart from the first team, there are six other adult teams ready to accept new members at every level of experience or ability. If you are over 18 and interested in playing rugby there is a team for you.

Proving there is no age barrier to playing rugby the club also boast a thriving Over-35s ‘Vets’ Tag rugby team with over forty members playing all year round and with special bonus points for tries scored by the Over-50s, this is proving to be one the most popular stay-fit activities in the town.

At the other end of the age scale Greystones has one of the largest Mini and Youth sections in Ireland with 600 players between the ages of 6 and 18, both boys and girls playing every Sunday from the beginning of September.

Every member of the community has the opportunity to play or get involved in rugby in Greystones. The club are especially proud of the Seagulls Tag rugby team who welcome players with special needs or intellectual disabilities.
