Newbridge College also collected silverware in the Rice Cup junior competition by overcoming CBC Monkstown in the decider.

With eight schools represented and the new primary school section of Pres Rugby, Pres Cubs, taking part, over 200 players took to the pitches over the course of a very enjoyable afternoon.

This event is fast gaining a reputation as Ireland’s leading schools seven-a-side tournament. With the building of a new school and sports hall in Pres Bray, the future is looking bright for the Putland Road school.

The Family Gala Day offered a range of activities for kids including slides, sumo suit wrestling, gladiator contests and bouncy castles.

Organisers also laid on a feast of barbecued food, gourmet teas and coffees, ice cream and soft drinks. Award winning local band, Peakin’ Trippers, entertained the crowds with an excellent live performance.

Pres Bray would like to thank Greenstar, Pres Bray’s Past Pupils Union and Cllr Mick Glynn for their continued support of the Rice Cup and Family Gala Day.
