* Saturday’s game will be the last RBS 6 Nations fixture to be played at the current Lansdowne Road as it closes down for re-development. Ireland will play their home games for the next two years at Croke Park.

* Ireland’s first win in international rugby came against Scotland in 1881 at Ormeau Park in Belfast.

* Five of the current Ireland squad – Simon Easterby, John Hayes, Shane Horgan, Ronan O’Gara and Peter Stringer – made their Test debuts against Scotland in the 2000 6 Nations. Ireland won 44-22 that day. Since the 32-10 collapse to the Scots at Murrayfield in 2001, Ireland have won the last five meetings between the sides.
