The programme, exclusively sponsored by AIB, will be fronted by RTI Radio One’s Con Murphy, from Five Seven Live. The series begins tonight, Monday, January 10th, at 7.30pm on RTI Two.

‘Against the Head’ will feature a 30-minute round up of the latest action, news and analysis from the AIB League, Heineken Cup, European Challenge Cup and the Six Nations Championship.

A panel consisting of former rugby players Brent Pope and Ciaran Fitzgerald will contribute to the programme on a weekly basis, whilst rugby journalists Brendan Fanning, Peter O’Reilly and Gerry Thornley will also bring the latest news and views to Irish rugby fans.

In addition, interviews and profiles of top players and coaches will feature prominently. The programme will also include an exciting mix of local club features and news from the AIB League and schools rugby.

Mr Jim Kelly, AIB Sponsorship Manager, said: “I have no doubts that the Irish rugby community will welcome the return of ‘Against the Head’. Rugby is continuing to grow in popularity, and this programme will keep fans fully informed of all the action; from the grass roots up to international level as Ireland prepare to defend their Triple Crown title.

“AIB’s commitment to rugby, which is demonstrated by our continued support of Irish club rugby, is further evidenced with our sponsorship of ‘Against the Head’,” he added.

Describing the programme, Con Murphy said: “‘Against the Head’ will be a dynamic mix of match reports and match analysis. The content will be as up to the minute as we can possibly make it.

“Given the quality of the panellists and pundits who will feature over the coming weeks, I am confident this will be something rugby fans won’t want to miss,” he added.

‘Against the Head’ begins tonight at 7.30pm on RTI Two, and will continue its 13-week run until Monday, April 4th.
