Foy To Step Up To Munster Senior Squad In 2027

Michael Foy wins a lineout for Munster 'A'
Munster Rugby has confirmed that Michael Foy has signed a new contract that will see him continue as an Academy player next season before moving up to the province's senior squad for the 2027/28 campaign.

An exciting young prospect, Michael Foy was a standout performer for the Ireland Under-20s in 2025, featuring throughout the U-20 Six Nations before playing three World Rugby U-20 Championship matches.

To optimise his individual development at his home province, he will complete his third year in Munster's Academy before moving up to the senior squad.

The 20-year-old flanker joined the Academy in June 2024 after playing in back-to-back Pinergy Munster Schools Boys Senior Cup finals with Christian Brothers College.

A Cork Constitution clubman, he has also played All-Ireland League rugby with UCC and lined out for Carrigaline RFC, Cork Constitution FC, and CBC at underage level.

Along with his eight appearances for the Ireland U-20s, he has played eight times for Munster 'A' in the 'A' Interprovincial Championship, and 15 times for UCC and Cork Constitution in the Energia All-Ireland League.

An influential member of the Academy, Foy has a bright future at the province.

Four Academy players will move up to Munster's senior squad next season - Max Clein, Seán Edogbo, Ronan Foxe, and Ben O'Connor.

The province's new Academy recruits will be announced later this month.
