The IRFU would like to congratulate Ellena Perry on her international career, as she brings her time in the green jersey to a close.
The 29-year-old loosehead, who will hang up her boots at the end of Gloucester-Hartpury's current PWR campaign, linked up with Scott Bemand's Ireland side ahead of the 2025 Rugby World Cup and quickly established herself as an important presence within the squad.
Known for her physicality, work-rate, and experience, she played a significant part in Ireland's recent progress.
Perry, a former England international, helped Bemand's charges to reach the Rugby World Cup quarter-final stage, delivering a player-of-the-match performance in the pool win over Spain.
She was ever-present in the front row during the 2026 Guinness Women's Six Nations, making the full five starts in the number 1 shirt and scoring a try against Italy.
Irish qualified through her maternal grandfather who hailed from Derry, her journey back into international rugby - while balancing life as a mum - was a hugely admired story within the group, and she was a valued member of the squad both on and off the pitch.
Speaking about her run of nine appearances for Ireland since last August, Perry said: "Getting the call-up to represent Ireland in 2025 was an incredibly special moment for me, and one I'll always be grateful for.
"From the minute I came into camp, the welcome I received from the squad meant so much — not just for me, but for my son Bert as well. The support and kindness shown to our family is something I'll never forget.
"To be part of this group, to wear the green jersey, and to contribute to what this team is building has been a huge source of pride."
Everyone at the IRFU would like to thank Ellena for her commitment and contribution to Irish Rugby, and wish her and her family all the very best for the future.
