August has been a month to remember for Beth Buttimer, who turned 21 in recent days and warmed up for the upcoming WXV Global Series - and a likely first Ireland cap - as the Interpros' top scorer with eight tries.
Coupled with an unrelenting defence, Munster were just that bit more clinical than their arch rivals, their 17th Championship crown fittingly sealed by the brilliant Buttimer from a 70th-minute maul.
Impressive table-toppers from the round robin series, Matt Brown's side coolly completed a four-match clean sweep for a second successive season, having also defeated Leinster 39-19 three weeks ago.
Hooker and player-of-the-match Buttimer broke the deadlock, 21 minutes in, as Munster recovered the early setback of losing the influential Enya Breen to the sin bin.
Having failed to score from multiple visits to the opposition 22, Leinster rallied to send Kathy Baker over in the corner just before half-time, closing the gap to 7-5.
Sana Govender's charges had chances to take the lead in wet conditions, yet an engrossing and defence-dominated second half saw Munster box clever and ultimately prevail.
19 members of Ireland's newly-announced training squad were involved in this hugely physical decider in Galway. Ruth Campbell's injury-enforced departure will be a worry for national coach Scott Bemand.
Leinster, the 2023 and 2024 champions, applied early pressure at a lineout, seeing captain Sarah Delaney almost score from a ball that deflected out the back. Munster won a scrum free-kick in response.
From the Reds' perspective, Breen's subsequent yellow card looked a harsh call - the ball went forward off her in a tackle on Stacey Flood - but Munster's robust maul defence kept the game scoreless.
The title holders got on the front foot, but Linda Djougang repelled them with a turnover penalty, and amid a frenetic battle at the breakdown, Eve Higgins snapped up another turnover.
Defences remained on top approaching the midpoint of the first half, while returning prop Eilís Cahill - one of two changes to the Munster team - was central to a well-earned scrum penalty.
Who else but Buttimer to make the breakthrough? The Tipperary youngster drove in low to score for the fifth time against Leinster this season, following up on Caitríona Finn's smart pass to put Lucia Linn through a gap.
After Finn had converted with precision, Leinster turned to Robyn O'Connor to raid successfully down the right wing twice. However, a subsequent lineout error handed key possession back to Munster.
The breakdown continued to be fiercely contested, with Buttimer and Caoimhe Molloy trading penalties, the former coming up trumps just a few metres from the Munster try-line.
Despite Campbell hobbling off injured, Leinster pressed again from a maul before Delaney and Dannah O'Brien sent Baker barrelling over past two defenders. The post kept O'Brien's conversion out.
Just as Chisom Ugwueru was beginning to threaten in attack for Munster, Leinster's all-Ireland international back-line fizzed with intent on the resumption.
Despite obvious improvements from their first round performance, the Blues left without points again as their maul was brought to ground, and an Eve Higgins-inspired attack was ended by a terrific turnover penalty won by Breen.
A rain shower contributed to more handling errors, with the Munster pack losing hard-earned field-position, and their opponents then blew a gilt-edge opportunity at the other end.
They had all the momentum with back-to-back penalties, yet Erin King was held up short, and when the Ireland captain took a quick tap, the excellent Ugwueru and Clodagh O'Halloran were alive to the danger.
Munster made them pay with 10 minutes remaining, Cahill's reintroduction from the bench seeing them win a scrum penalty, and then their ever-reliable maul delivered for Buttimer to get the crucial grounding.
Having moved to out-half in place of Finn, Breen added a cracking conversion from the left, leaving more than a converted score in it, and Leinster had no answer.
Indeed, Munster almost added a late third score, Djougang reacting quickest to hold up her Ireland team-mate Siobhán McCarthy. The sight of a fired-up Ugwueru tackling O'Connor in touch soon after effectively confirmed the result.
