Ireland Men’s Squad Assembles At HPC Ahead Of Guinness Six Nations

The IRFU High Performance Centre was a hive of activity on Sunday as the Ireland Men’s squad gathered for their assembly day, reconnecting in camp ahead of the start of the Guinness Men’s Six Nations on Thursday week.

Following the announcement of the 37-player squad, Andy Farrell’s men have kicked off their preparations for the Championship. They will travel to Quinta do Lago for some warm-weather training in the coming days.

Before that, Ireland head coach Farrell and captain Caelan Doris will attend the Six Nations launch in Edinburgh on Monday.

A squad update, issued following this weekend’s BKT United Rugby Championship matches, confirmed that there are several changes to the travelling party ahead of the squad’s trip to Portugal.

Jack Boyle sustained a leg injury during Leinster’s derby win in Galway, so Connacht’s uncapped prop Billy Bohan, an Ireland Under-20 international just last year, will join the training camp.

Tom Ahern is replaced by Cormac Izuchukwu, while Robert Baloucoune will continue to be assessed over the coming days after being withdrawn at half-time during Ulster’s defeat away to the Scarlets.
