There were some heartwarming celebrations, shared between the players, coaches, family members, and fans, as Ireland were crowned Triple Crown winners for 2026 at the Aviva Stadium.
Andy Farrell’s charges beat Scotland 43-21 to lift the Triple Crown trophy for the second year running. It is a record ninth clean sweep for Ireland over the home nations in the Six Nations era.
Despite a losing start to this year’s Championship and a lengthy injury list, they have overcome England, Scotland, and Wales in quick succession for the fourth time in five seasons.
Speaking in the aftermath, Ireland captain and player-of-the-match Caelan Doris said: “Pretty hectic (to play in). It felt like a game of chess at some stages, back and forth, we scored, they scored. I thought we took our chances very well.
“The atmosphere here was unbelievable. We could feel you guys, so thanks a million.
“We saw what Scotland were capable of last week (against France), so we had to be on high alert. Always switched on. We knew what their attack was capable of.
“I thought our defence stood up really well today. Got quite a few turnovers. Special mention to Tadhg Beirne, I thought he was unbelievable. This (player-of-the-match) medal probably should be around his neck.”
