Dogged Ireland Go Down Fighting In France

The Ireland Women (sponsored by Aon) went down fighting in Le Mans, scoring two late tries in a 38-17 defeat to highly-fancied France. Despite conceding five tries, Scott Bemand’s side showed real heart and some impressive defensive work throughout.

Trailing 17-3 at half-time, Ireland powered over from a short tap penalty with Aoife Wafer muscling her way through. Aoife Dalton, one of their best backs on show, added a second try, pouncing on a dropped ball that resulted from strong defensive pressure.

Next up for the girls in green is their opening home match of the 2024 Guinness Women’s Six Nations against Italy at the RDS next Sunday – tickets are on sale here from Ticketmaster.ie.
