Now second in the overall standings, the Ireland Men battled to a fifth place finish in Vancouver last week to carry momentum into this season's fifth leg. They ended SVNS Series leaders Argentina's 18-match winning run in LA, and went on to beat Spain in the 3rd place play-off.
The Ireland Women, who are in sixth spot, were eager to put a disappointing ninth place finish in Vancouver behind them. A tournament-ending injury to captain Lucy Rock was a big setback, and while they made LA's Cup quarter-finals, a closing defeat to Brazil left them in eighth spot.
