City Of Derry Head Coach Paul O’Kane is predicting a close race in Division 2C of the Energia All-Ireland League this season. The format of the AIL means that 60% of all final league places bring with them significant consequences. The Division 2C winners are automatically promoted while the three teams below them all enter a promotion playoff. At the other end of the table, the 10th place team faces an automatic drop out of senior rugby and a ninth place finish means a fight for survival against an up and coming junior team.
