Ireland Squad Update For Scotland Match
Out-half Jonathan Sexton has been ruled out of the Ireland team for this weekend’s opening match of the RBS 6 Nations against Scotland.
Ireland forwards coach Simon Easterby today gave an update at a media session after training. Jonathan Sexton did some running on Monday and continues to rehab from a calf injury but the coaching team felt it was too soon to consider him for selection this weekend.

Peter O’Mahony sat out training today as he has some tightness in his hamstring. He will be scanned today to get a clearer picture but he is considered a doubt at this stage. Andew Trimble is also suffering from some tightness in his groin and will be monitored over the next few days.
Sean O’Brien and Keith Earls both trained fully yesterday and today, while Easterby also confirmed that Ian Keatley has been in camp as out-half cover for Sexton.
The Ireland squad trained today under the watchful eye of British & Irish Lions head coach Warren Gatland as they step up preparations for Saturday’s Championship opener in Edinburgh.
