#ShoulderToShoulder: Tour Diary – Day 8, Back To BA

The day after the game and there is plenty to do as the Ireland squad prepare to leave Corrientes and head back to Buenos Aires.

Day 8 – Back To BA

The morning begins with a later than usual breakfast as the lads sleep in after the game. Once they get up, all players must complete a medical with team doctor Eanna Falvey.

After breakfast there is a squad recovery session in the team room followed by a dip in the hotel swimming pool.

It may be winter here in Argentina but the sun is shining and the temperatures have been in the high teens – that doesn’t mean the pool is warm though, so it is a tentative bunch that take a dip!

This time next week the lads will be on holiday and they can start working on the tan!

Ian MadiganThen it is off to the airport for the baggage team to get 109 pieces of luggage including medical gear, kit bags and equipment loaded.

It must be one of the heaviest loads the Argentina airline has had to carry because in addition to all the Irish squad and luggage, our hosts Argentina are on the flight as well – as you can see from Ian Madigan’s instagram photo.

In fact the travelling rugby media, referee and match officials are also on board so technically it could count as a Test match flight – uncapped of course.

Back at the hotel there is a big rush to get the laundry bags in on time and then there is yet another meal to tuck into.

Following a long day of travel, physios James Allen and Keith Fox set up shop in the team room and check over any knocks or residual soreness the lads may have.

The coaches will be locked away in the analysis room for a few hours as they prep for the review and training the next day.

For the lads it is time to rest and recover.
