Combined Universities To Face Exiles

The Combined Irish Universities will play the Irish Exiles (Under-23) in Ealing Trailfinders at 4pm this Friday. The Universities side comprises of players from the four University sides that compete in the Ulster Bank League – UCD, Dublin University, Queen’s University and UCC – and contains a number of excellent and exciting players.

The Combined Universities have not played since November 2010, when the impressive Conor Twomey and Tony Smeeth-coached side overcame a UCD RFC selection on a scoreline of 41-24.

That was a centenary match organised to commemorate UCD RFC’s affiliation to the Leinster Branch of the IRFU in 1910.

The Exiles have been very successful in creating opportunities for a stream of Irish-qualified players living in the UK – many of whom have represented Ireland at age-grade levels in recent seasons.

It would be well worthwhile for any supporters who are in London for Saturday’s RBS 6 Nations game to come down and watch what promises to be a highly entertaining match and then stay on to enjoy the hospitality in the clubhouse and Wales v France live on TV.
