Book Your Place For Connacht’s Women In Sport Seminar

Connacht Rugby have launched a ground-breaking initiative aimed at encouraging women to make the most of the unique opportunities sport presents.

The inaugural ‘Women in Sport Seminar’, in collaboration with Marian Earls Fitness and Connacht Women’s Rugby, will take place at 10am next Saturday (August 10) at the Sportsground in Galway city.

The seminar is a non-profit event run in association with Connacht Rugby to raise awareness of necessary pathways and programmes for women in sport and fitness.

On the day, there will be key guest speakers presenting on their specialised topics including:

Aidan O’Flynn – Psychology
Ruth Kilcawley – Nutrition
Rachel Wyer – Physiotherapy
Emer O’Dowd – Strength and Conditioning

Presentations will focus on common misconceptions associated with female athletes and clients along with guidance and direction towards improved educational and training channels.

Additionally, three top female international athletes will provide the audience with direct insight into high performance and their individual challenges to reaching their performance goal.

Claire Bergin, a former two-time Olympic athlete and Sevens rugby hopeful, Nora Stapleton, a member of Ireland’s 2013 Grand Slam-winning team, and Ireland Sevens international Carol Staunton will give a unique insight into their experiences and lessons learned during their international careers in top level sport.

Furthermore, a treat to look forward to on the day will be refreshments provided by Galway’s highly successful cafe 37 West, owned by Gill Carroll. Ireland’s Raw Kitchen will also be on site on the day to advise on healthy food options.

Anyone with an interest in sport and fitness is encouraged to come along for an educational afternoon and networking event. Admission is €;25 on the day, or you can register today – Tuesday, August 6 – for the early bird rate of €;15.
