Kieran Marmion, the 20-year-old scrum half who has signed a full two-year contract with Connacht, is the province’s Player of the Month award winner for October.
The exclusive Connacht monthly award, in association with Hartmanns Jewellers and Tag Heuer watches, is presented to players who have displayed exceptional leadership and ability both on and off the pitch over the course of the month.
Kieran Marmion was identified by Connacht Rugby as the stand-out player for October, having played all four games during the month which included the opening two rounds of the Heineken Cup.
The young scrum half is the only Connacht player to have started all ten of their games to date this season since the opening fixture back in September.
Speaking after the announcement of this month’s award winner, head coach Eric Elwood said: “Kieran has taken the opportunities presented to him with both hands. He has proven his worth in the squad week in, week out and is well-deserving of this award.”
Kieran, who earlier this week signed a full contract with the province, commented: “I’m really delighted to have received this award. Everyone is working extremely hard up at the Sportsground every week and it’s nice to have such an award in place.
“There were a lot of tough games last month and it was great to get the crucial win against Treviso at the end of it.”
Richard Hartmann, Director of Hartmann Jewellers spoke about the collaboration, saying: “We are delighted for Kieran to have won the Tag Heuer watch for October’s Player of the Month.
“It’s great to see one of the younger players coming through and putting his hand up. The collaboration with Connacht Rugby is really something that we are enjoying and we look forward to the rest of the season.”
